WML Activity & Photo Challenge List - It's here!!!!

*This was meant to posted yesterday, but for some reason the computer wasn't willing to play along. Thankfully today I have it sorted! Here is my post intended for yesterday*

I did something brave today.
I posted my very first Wife Mumma Life Activity & Photo Challenge List!!!!
I'm really quite the newbie at this blogging thing so I may have just thrown myself into the deep end, without floaties!!! I guess we'll see if I sink or swim?

If you want to play along, it's quite simple. All you have to do is find the prompt for the day
(1st of March = 1. paint) take a photo of the activity and then post it on Instagram with the hashtag #wmlplayeachday
Feel free to check out the other photos posted by myself and anyone else who decides to play along. It'll be fun!
I've joined other photo challenges before and I really enjoyed being a part of the experience and the push-along to be creative with my son was also very helpful. I hope that this activity and photo challenge does the same for you. I hope that you create valuable memories with your kids, laugh and get messy....well, as messy as you choose, when it calls for it.
Most of the prompts leave the actual activity to you....I say 'paint', and you can do what you want involving paint. I'll even try to help out by posting more ideas for you, when I can, but for now here is the list!

Dinner Drama

Yesterday evening.

"Hey, little man! Would you like to eat dinner now, before Daddy comes home,
or wait and eat with Daddy?"
"I want to wait for Daddy to come home."
"Ok"

A little closer to Daddy's arrival I thought I'd check again...
"Are you hungry now? Would you like dinner early or wait for Daddy?
"I'll wait for Daddy."

Just before 6.30pm a tired, hardworking Daddy gets home, takes off his boots and walks in the door. As I set dinner on the table I announced, "Daddy is home!!!! Hop up to the table for dinner please!"

Begin meltdown here!
"But I want to eat BEFORE Daddy gets home!!! (tears) "I don't want to eat with Daddy here!!! (more tears and inconsolable sobbing) "I want to eat with Daddy at work!!! (flailing around on the floor) "He HAS to go back to work!!!!!" (ups the volume) "IT'S RUINED!!! I CANT EAT DINNER NOW!!! HE HAS TO GO BACK TO WORK!!....

As I console Daddy and remind him he is loved dearly by his child, the meltdown continues for around about 15 minutes.
Poor Daddy comes up with the idea to go outside and feed the dogs and to take his time about it so the little man can sit up and eat dinner, Daddy free! He walks out the door. I play along, "Bye Daddy. We will miss you while you are at work."
The 4 year old chimes in "Bye Daddy."

Drying his eyes he sets himself up on his chair to start dinner.
"Mummy, where is Daddy?"
"He's going back to work, so you can eat your dinner."

Wait for it....

"But I want Daddy here!!! I don't want him to go to work!!!! "I WANT TO EAT MY DINNER WITH DADDY HERE!!!!

Of course you do! "Mummy will stop him from going!!! I'll go get him to come back home ok?
(sniff, sniffle) "Ok"
Daddy walks back in to the kitchen to big brown teary eyes and a smile and helps the little man eat his dinner.

That man is amazing!! I'd have been in tears at such rejection!
This journey of Parenthood isn't always easy. It doesn't always make sense. It can be exhausting and confusing, but, it is a precious gift. It is an adventure. It is awesome and worth it!! .....and boy are we going to laugh when we look back at this moment!

A Good Idea

I love doing creative activities with my son.
I must admit that that sometimes I find it difficult to come up with the ideas. T
here have been times when almost the entire day has slipped away before a bright idea has hit me....so, when I found an activity/photo challenge at the beginning of this year I jumped right in!!! I loved that the initial idea was done for me and all I had to do was run with it!!
Each day was partnered with a short prompt and total creative licence was left to those who wished to participate. F
or example, one of the prompts was 'build a den'.....we chose to use the sandpit and created a little cave/den for the dinosaur toys and imaginative play followed from that. From the photos I saw that some people made dens in their lounge-rooms with sheets and doonas, other's made dens for their pony toys out of cardboard boxes. It was also fun to comment and encourage, and receive the same from others and a great way to get new ideas for future activities.
However, at the end of January I discovered that this particular photo challenge was just set up for that month and I felt my heart sink a little as it meant I now had to come up with ideas myself!!!
This got me thinking......perhaps I should start MY OWN instagram activity/photo challenge?? People can join in as they please and creative ideas can be viewed via hashtagged images.
A good idea? I think so!!!!
