This morning, my 4 year old son and I spent some time making potato stamp paintings.
He really enjoyed the whole process and got right into it! It's such a joy to watch your child play, explore colors and patterns and try new things.
He is now laying down quietly for a sleep destroying the rest of the house while I'm cleaning up the debris left by the little creative tornado.
The paint trays (in this case, washed, foam food trays) and potatoes are in the bin. Yay! No washing up!!
All the paintings are hanging to dry.
The table and chair and walls, and floor and cat are all paint-free again,
but,
what now?

What will I do with the little masterpieces when they are dry? I like to keep everything my son draws/paints/creates.
(probably because my parents never kept anything I painted as a child
and I was quite the little painter!) But, there is only so much room on the fridge! I could just pop them in the large plastic storage container I keep all of his creative works in?
However, I have decided that today's efforts will be made into a book.
Now, this isn't very complicated or difficult and there are no age-old intricate binding techniques required.
simply......
1. Collect the dry pages.
1. Collect the dry pages.
2. Ceate a title page (I used a page I stamped so I didn't have to write all over one of his.) 3. Punch holes down the side and tie with wool, or simply staple.
The big page (top image) I folded and glued to the back so it can easily be opened to see it.

Voilà!
A sweet little art book, all ready to proudly show off to Daddy
when we gets home from work!!
